Crime & Craft started from spending late nights stitching after difficult days working in criminal justice - and slowly grew into a space that combines creativity, education, and curiousity.
For me, crafting has always been more about more than just making things. It's a way to slow down, process, learn, and talk about things in a meaningful way.
Whether you're a fellow criminology nerd, a crafty person, a student, or simply curious, I genuinely hope you find something here that makes you smile, think, or want to learn something new.
ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Kirsty - a criminal justice practitioner, criminology educator, and lifelong lover of all things creative, curious, and nerdy.
By day I work within criminal justice, supporting people leaving prison to navigate some of the most challenging transitions in their lives. Alongside this, I tutor, teach, and support students in criminology and related subjects, with a particular interest in making complex topics accessible, engaging and meaningful.
Crime & Craft was created as a way to bring together two things I genuinely love: criminology and creativity.
The Story Behind Crime & Craft
I've always believed that people learn best when they're curious, engaged, and able to connect emotionally with a subject - and creativity can be such a powerful way to do that.
What started as a love of crafting gradually evolved into something bigger: a space where criminology, creativity, and real life could meet in a thoughtful and approachable way.
From cross stitch kits inspired by forensic principles, to mystery book bundles and educational resources, Crime & Craft is built around curiosity, learning, and creativity - without losing sight of the real-world impact of crime and justice.
Professional Background
My background includes work across criminal justice, prison resettlement, safeguarding, education, and multi-agency support services. I have particular interests in:
* prison resettlement and continuity of care
* women in the justice system
* trauma-informed practice
* aims of sentencing and punishment
* barriers to convicted individuals in the community
Alongside Crime & Craft, I also offer criminology tutoring, educational support, workshops, guest speaking, curriculum development, assessment, and consultancy opportunities.
